I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was at Zita's home! The walk up to narrow and steep cobble stone street , to the massive door leading to a courtyard was magical. We dined with Zita's parents, Xenia and George, in the kitchen all around a set table. We started with Hungarian appetisers and wine, followed by Chicken Paprikash served over spatzel, we finished with apple strudel. The food and wine were delicious and the conversation lively and educational. The evening felt like we were with old friends, truly a highlight of our trip!!
This was a highlight of our trip! Zita was unable to attend so her mom Xenia and George filled in for her. They were wonderful. They made us feel like family. It was a wonderful morning making strudel and I highly recommend this experience.
I was nearly an hour late for the dining event due to road closures across the city. My hosts, Xenia and George, (her parents) were as lovely and gracious as can be. The food was amazing - reflecting some traditional Hungarian dishes that were out of this world. Lovely company and conversation I would most definitely recommend this dining experience.
We took part in the cookery class followed by eating the lunch we made. It was all delicious pea soup, mushroom paprishka with hand made dumplings and the star of the show cheese and cherry strudel. Zita was welcoming, enthusiastic and fun. Just go for the experience. You won’t regret it.
